There are many Chinese ethnic groups that would frequently make it impossible. There are HAN, Ching, several Tai, Hmong, along with intermarriages. Generally Northern Chinese are taller than southern Chinese. Skin colour is generally lighter in the north than the south. Facial features vary even in the south with Vietnamese looking different from Thais (from SW China)

The whole "I can tell where you're from" thing is a myth.



When I was in college, Korean friend of mine once claimed she could tell what Asian country some one was from just by looking at them. So I challenged her to a contest. We looked at 10 random Asians, guessed what ethnicity they were, and asked them. I got 5/10 right. She got 4/10. My system was just to randomly guess.

Yeah. Go watch a couple hundred kdramas, and then go watch some c-dramas. They have different features and style. Same with Japanese people. I used to think all Asians looked the same.
