I plan on visiting S. Korea soon with my friend. I am white and she is guyanese, making her skin color look dark brown. Of course I know that not every Korean is the same but how are they treated/viewed upon overall for each of us? I know that maybe the views will be different for the both of us since she has a dark skin color and that I am Italian. I also know that staring is a big thing but that does not bug me because I do understand it's a homogeneous country. How is racism overall in Korea?

If you have ever been to S. Korea, please share your experiences as a foreigner. Thanks!

I have always been treated well when in Korea. If you are polite and act as a guest, they will be polite.

Learn some phrases, so you can try to speak in their language. Most will think this is funny, and like it.

Racism is a problem, but as a guest this is not going to be a problem for you.

People in tourist areas will not stare, but in the country where people are not used to seeing foreigners, they will.

We can be a bit shy, bust mostly we're pretty accepting of white people. It's true, some people will take advantage of you because they think being from america=millionaire, but that happens in a lot of places. Your friend might have more difficulty if she has dark skin (some Koreans are just mean that way) but a lot of people will keep their opinions to themselves. My girlfriend is foreign and living in Korea, but overall her reception at first was good. She came to Korea for the first time when she was fifteen, and a lot of people doted on her (she's small for her age and baby faced, overall a cute person). Some people might come up to you randomly and say hello in English, but they;re just curious and eager to practice English.

Seoul is the capital of Korea and it's around 600 years of record and now you can learn it with hotelbye . Seoul is one's heart of Korea's tradition and knowledge in addition to politics and economics. Seoul is home to many previous traditional sites like Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces, and places of conventional lifestyle like Bukchon Hanok Village, Insa-dong, and Namdaemun Market. The shopping and amusement districts of Myeongdong and Apgujeong, and Asia's biggest underground shopping middle COEX Mall also pull a large amount of tourists every year. In just one single term, Seoul is amazing, is a city worth visit.

I am asian american so it was fairly fine for me. but at times there are the occasional super drunk white americans just acting so belligerent in public and I've seen some even knock down this old lady's vendor goods. But as long as you're nice and don't do stuff like that you should be good to go.

Like dispensable credit cards.

You get charged double everywhere and women will try to marry or extort you for money.
