Question:
Why are Filipinos not famous like Koreans?

Being a Filipino, with tons of pride and likeness to uplift my nation, I am extremely jealous of the fame that Korea is receiving from the world. On my perception, I see the Philippines as a tiger waiting to be born into the wild.

I am very happy for the creativity that Koreans have shown the world. Their amazing music videos, dramas, and a whole lot more. But it makes me wonder why such creativity cannot be exhibited by the Filipinos. Pardon me for this jealousy, but I am just burdened by this fact.

Korean dramas are taking over for the past few years, while Filipino dramas are forsaken by its people as they turn to foreign works.

What is lacking? Is my comparison just too unbalanced? Perhaps I compared a bird to an eagle in this case. I hope I can be a part of a time wherein Filipinos are lifted to fame just as Koreans made their way into stardom.

I think my ambition is too worldly.

We are much different from Koreans, by the way, I am also a Filipino. You cannot compare two(2) nation with one another, every nation has a distinction that separate them from the rest like what you call the Koreans. In the first place, Koreans are much more progressive than the Philippines is every aspect of the word. We cannot compare ourselves with them. We have our own set of celebrities away from Korea. Koreans do not have Manny Pacquaio's fame and glory. What they have are K-Pop culture and soap operas. Do not get jealous about the Koreans. Because jealousy is one of the deadliest sin imposed by Satan to us. The more you get jealous the more you will not see the potential of our race. If you see the Philippines as a tiger waiting to be born in the wild so why get jealous with the Koreans in the first place.

We on the other hand, lack talent when it comes to offering dramas, we lack so many things like the plot and the story that goes with it. We do not have a story to begin with, all we have is to showcase the beautiful faces of our celebrities on television, and forgot that we need a very nice scope of story to blend with the stars of the show. We have a long way to match the Koreans in this category, not to mentioned the ordinary Koreans are having a great time over the sensational Psy over the YouTube. We need creativity, talent and other things if we want to overcome the Koreans in many categories, but sad to say money is the only motivation in creating something in the Philippines. Everything is commercialized now.

In the early 60's we are more creative in making movies and television shows when Koreans do not even have any noon time show then or have any singer that surpassed us. We are the very first Asian nation that were featured in a motion picture in Hollywood. But that was long time ago.

There are A LOT of other countries in Asia that have just as much talent as Korea. It all comes down to if you guys have the same opportunities. I don't know much about the Philippines and maybe you can educate me, but I know Korea has a huge budget for all the entertainment and that's why they are the most successful SO FAR. But you shouldn't worry, the Philippines is definitely showing up in America with Bruno Mars, and Jessica Sanchez who was second place on American Idol. And also there's Dara of South Korean girl group 2NE1. She IS Korean, but she was raised in the Philippines and identifies with the culture the most. She goes there all the time during her vacation. She was originally an actress in the Philippines and she was later picked up by YG.

Anyways, like I said before, Filipinos are just as talented as anybody, it just comes down to if your country has the opportunities for you guys. I'm sure you guys will be as successful as Korea soon.

There are just too many factors.

1. It is luck (or maybe not) that South Korea turned out to be one of the 4 Asian Tigers with the miracle on the han river thrusting there economy.

2. Japanese Influence. Before Kpop and all these pop culture, Jpop was the in thing and it was very prevalent.

3. Focus on aesthetical appeal. I cannot say for sure but I realised that Kpop focus a lot on looks to capture the attention of the modern young audience who have bigger spending power than they used to. And the revenue of the South Korean companies are spent on promoting Hallyu and their Korean products further on.

Cause Korea is more advanced than the Phillipines. The Phillipines is a place in where talent is rich but not properly cultivated. People are lazy and wait for oppurtunities to come rather than chase oppurtunities themselves.

The difference is education, whether on the part of the government to offer more opportunity to higher education plus easy and affordable access to it, and on the part of the citizens to have the determination to work together for a better future.

in my opinion, maybe its because K-Movies is very unique.

Shooting places & fashion.

Hindi nman sa hindi maganda or hindi effective ang mga pelikula ntin, pero mnsan, gnagaya dn ntin ung flavor ng K-Movies kaya hndi knakagat ng mga tao, and we cant deny that most of the filipinos, kinikilig din sa Kmovies. Sometimes we were looking an idea pa din sa kanla. Tutoong super talented ntin. But I think, in this issue Korea found the perfect flavor from music - movie - fashion- actors na kinakagat ng tao.

Pero despite that, kilala naman tayo sa sining, arts, sports atbp. na kinikilala sa buong mundo.

Kanya kanyang talent lang yan, ika nga.
