I want to send mail to my friend in South Korea. I live in the USA and I want to know which format I need to use in order to send mail to him.

Here is an example of an address in Korea:

Royal Asiatic Society, Korea Branch

Room 611, Korean Christian Building 136-46

Jongno 5(o)-ga, Jongno-gu,

Seoul, SEOUL 100-470 Rep. of KOREA

Notice the format:

Name

Room, Building (Lot number, if known)

Ward, District

City, PROVINCE, Postal Code, Country

(Seoul is its own province, so the second Seoul in capitals can be omitted).

(Buildings are often identified the the number of the plot of land they sit on. Korea is moving toward a street number system, so this information will be good only until the end of the year. Then it will be the same as the US: Street number, street, ward, district, city, province, postal code, country).

Send it in romanization(western) of the korean address. Just ask your friend for the address and send it in that format. Ask your friend for the western writing of the korean address. Not in korean alphabet.

It doesn't matter, the Koreans mail service can read English.

I have sent many letters and they always get there.
